2025 Homes Tour: Legacy of John S. Chase Walking Tour
Explore the legacy of pioneering Black architect John S. Chase, FAIA, NOMAC, as Austin celebrates the 100th anniversary of his birth. Learn about East Austin’s Keystone Addition, developed in the early 1950s, featuring homes built by Lott Construction Company where Chase was a draftsman before and during his studies at the University of Texas.

Preservation Austin is proud to present our 2025 Homes Tour! This year’s homes embody Austin’s remarkable heritage, showcasing diverse architectural eras and cultural histories. Ours is the only tour of its kind to connect Austinites to historic spaces and stunning design in such powerful and personal ways.

2025 Homes Tour VIP Party
Kick off our 2025 Homes Tour with a birthday bash to remember! Our third annual VIP Party offers the exclusive opportunity to revel at South Austin’s gorgeous I.V. Davis Homestead, which celebrates its sesquicentennial anniversary this year. The Greek Revival-style I.V. Davis Homestead is a local and state landmark and an icon of the Zilker neighborhood.

Volunteer Appreciation Happy Hour
You’re invited to Preservation Austin’s annual volunteer appreciation happy hour! If you've volunteered for PA in the past or are interested in volunteering with us in the future, we would be delighted to see you at this event. Join us at our office, where drinks and light snacks will be provided as we mingle with staff and fellow volunteers. Preservation Day at the Capitol 2025
Preservation Texas invites you to join fellow preservation advocates from across the state in Austin for a full day of legislative briefings and advocacy opportunities on Wednesday, February 19th at the Texas State Capitol. An opening reception will be held on Tuesday evening, February 18th at Preservation Austin’s newly rehabilitated McFarland-McBee House.

Economy Furniture Strike Urban Hike - Sold Out
Join us for a walking tour of the sites and places of the Economy Furniture Strike, one of the most significant labor actions by Mexican Americans in Austin’s history. This 2-mile urban hike will be hosted by Preservation Austin’s Fowler Family Intern, Matthew Medina.

Homegrown Roots: A Celebration of Our Culture + Preservation

Holiday Sip + Shop Fundraiser
Join Preservation Austin on Small Business Saturday for light bites and bubbly at Antiques of Oakmont. Explore the store and find treasures for you and for those on your gift list! The shop will generously donate 20% of every purchase made during the event to support Preservation Austin.

2024 Annual Meeting + Elections
Preservation Austin’s 2024 Annual Meeting is just around the corner! Please join us on Thursday, August 22 for our Annual Meeting and Elections at the stunning Commodore Perry Estate, just blocks away from the McFarland House, PA’s future home. This year’s celebration will take place at the 1949 Gothic Revival Chapel and Terrace, and will feature drinks, revelry, and tours of the Estate’s exquisite grounds. Baker School Summer Bazaar
Preservation Austin and Save the Good Stuff are partnering to present a one-of-a-kind Summer Bazaar at the historic Baker School! Join us for a sweet summer fundraiser and don’t miss this opportunity to score some incredible second-hand finds. Admission to the bazaar is free and gorgeous items will be available at every price point.
Proceeds will benefit Preservation Austin. Purchases can be made using cash or card.

DIY Demonstration: Wood Window Workshop
Historic wood windows add character and curb appeal to Austin’s vintage homes. Maintaining these windows does not require an elaborate woodshop or hefty price tag, though it does involve skill… Preservation Austin is pleased to present a demonstration by architect Victoria Carpenter Holmes—a self-taught success story—as she explains the basics of window restoration and upkeep. Join us for an approachable and informative presentation aimed at homeowners interested in thrifty, diy strategies for wood window preservation.

Preservation Austin is proud to present our 2024 Homes Tour! The stunning homes on our 2024 tour embody more than a century of Austin’s remarkable heritage – from a log cabin to mid-century marvel and everything in between!
Ours is the only tour of its kind in Austin–a combination of architecture, history, and culture–that connects Austinites to historic spaces in powerful and personal ways. See a new side of our city with this immersive tour full of contemporary and classic design inspiration, and witness the endless adaptability of historic homes to 21st-century living.

VIP Party – 2024 Homes Tour
Preservation Austin’s 2024 Homes Tour will commence with a Southwind soiree! Join us for our second annual VIP Party to kick off the festivities at an exclusive home not featured during the tour weekend. This special event will showcase Southwind, the former home and studio of famed Abstract Expressionist painter Seymour Fogel. Enjoy delicious beverages and bites while falling under the spell of this magical midcentury home!

Real Places Conference 2024
Preservation Austin is proud to be a Preservation Partner for the Texas Historical Commission’s Real Places 2024 conference, taking place virtually and in person in Austin April 3–5. Real Places is the premier historic preservation and heritage tourism event in the Lone Star State, where anyone interested in protecting our past can work directly with industry-leading experts to learn practical, actionable solutions they can apply in their community.

2023 Annual Membership Meeting + Elections
We’re heading to honky-tonk heaven to celebrate another amazing year of preservation advocacy! Preservation Austin’s 2023 Annual Meeting takes place Tuesday, August 22, at the Broken Spoke. Recently dedicated as a City of Austin Landmark, this iconic venue—a bar, restaurant, dancehall, and memorabilia mecca—opened in 1964 and has been legendary ever since. Join us at this special membership event to connect with fellow supporters and vote in our 2023–2024 Board of Directors.

House Relocation, Deconstruction, and Material Reuse Panel
As Austinites seek innovative approaches to sustainability in the built environment, Preservation Austin and AIA Austin are proud to present a discussion panel exploring house relocation, deconstruction, and material reuse.
Celebrating the recent release of “House Relocation: A Practical Guide for Austin, Texas,” this program will feature local experts evaluating tools for the circular reuse of residential structures. In response to measurable losses in our city’s historic residential fabric and the impacts of demolition, panelists will provide a better understanding of the economic, environmental, and preservation benefits of relocation and deconstruction practices.

Preservation Austin's 70th Birthday Party
Preservation Austin turns 70 years old this year! Come celebrate our platinum birthday at this special membership event at the legendary Driskill Hotel.
Meet us on the mezzanine to learn more about our essential role in saving this incredible landmark from demolition in the 1970s, and join us in reflecting on seven decades of Preservation Austin’s impassioned advocacy at the site of one of Austin’s greatest preservation success stories. Complimentary cake and champagne will be provided by our wonderful host, the Driskill Hotel, and a cash bar will also be available.
