Historic wood windows add character and curb appeal to Austin’s vintage homes. Maintaining these windows does not require an elaborate woodshop or hefty price tag, though it does involve skill… Preservation Austin is pleased to present a demonstration by architect Victoria Carpenter Holmes—a self-taught success story—as she explains the basics of window restoration and upkeep. Join us for an approachable and informative presentation aimed at homeowners interested in thrifty, diy strategies for wood window preservation.
Please note that this event will be held primarily outdoors, warm weather attire is suggested! We will have tents to provide shade. Coffee, water, and iced tea will be provided.
Space is limited, reserve your tickets today! Ticket sales will close on Friday, June 14 at noon.
VICTORIA CARPENTER HOLMES
Victoria is a Project Manager at Cuppett Kilpatrick Architecture & Interior Design, where she enjoys collaborating with clients to realize their dream home. She is a Registered Architect and Registered Interior Designer in Texas, and has been calling Austin home for over a decade after attending the University of Texas. In 2021, Victoria and husband Clayton Holmes bought their 1938 bungalow. They were attracted by how many original features the house maintained, including the 80-year-old windows which fill each room with daylight from two sides. With a reverence for old things and an adventurous spirit for learning new things, Victoria has taught herself historic maintenance and restoration practices. She is thrilled to share her experience with you!
