Capital Campaign
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN 2024-2026
This Capital Campaign is the first in Preservation Austin’s 71-year history, and reaching our $3.2 million goal will ensure a vibrant and sustainable future for our work.
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN 2024-2026
Now more than ever, Austin deserves a thriving nonprofit dedicated to celebrating and protecting our historic spaces.
Our $3.2 million capital campaign will make the following initiatives possible:
Transforming the 1947 McFarland-McBee House into our nonprofit’s office and home base. Preservation Austin saved this Streamline Moderne landmark from demolition in 2014. Preserving this iconic space for our headquarters will create a highly-visible, much-needed hub for local preservation efforts.
Creating an endowment to support the McFarland-McBee House’s annual maintenance and operation. This sustainable, long-term funding source will support repairs, security, and groundskeeping for this unique and historic property.
Growing our grants program to support more projects citywide. This one-of-a-kind program supports locally-driven preservation efforts by homeowners, neighborhoods, educators, beloved businesses, and iconic institutions.
Launching a new Innovation Fund to expand our programming and advocacy, including an annual preservation policy summit, year-round education for historic property owners, family-oriented experiences for Austin’s next generation, and so much more!
A Preservation Headquarters for the Austin Community
We believe that preservation and growth must coexist to create a world-class city. Our work is grounded in establishing preservation as a community value, both for its inherent worth and for the solutions it presents for existential issues such as equity, sustainability, and affordability. Preservation Austin brings leadership and vision to this work every day, rising to meet this moment for our city during this pivotal time of change.
Preservation Austin is the only citywide nonprofit dedicated to this work. Our capital campaign means more advocacy, more programming, and more support for preserving Austin’s irreplaceable historic spaces. Only together will create a future where historic places play a meaningful role in everyone’s life, inspiring all Austinites to become advocates for preservation.
Thank you to our leading supporters who have kick-started this campaign.
Campaign supporters have a lasting, transformative impact on making this future a reality. Each gift will transform our city and further our mission to empower Austinites to create a more inclusive, resilient, and meaningful community culture through preservation.
