Preservation Austin turns 70 years old this year! Come celebrate our platinum birthday at this special membership event at the legendary Driskill Hotel. Meet us on the mezzanine to learn more about our essential role in saving this incredible landmark from demolition in the 1970s, and join us in reflecting on seven decades of Preservation Austin’s impassioned advocacy at the site of one of Austin’s greatest preservation success stories. Complimentary cake and champagne will be provided by our wonderful host, the Driskill Hotel, and a cash bar will also be available.
Established in 1953 as the Heritage Society of Austin, our nonprofit has borne witness to immense change and worked tirelessly to save the structures and stories that make Austin so endlessly appealing. Much like our beloved city, we’ve also grown with the times; while saving historic places remains the core of our work, today we exist to empower Austinites to shape a more inclusive, meaningful, and resilient community culture through preservation. We’re excited to celebrate our past, present, and future in service to this mission.

Our 70th Anniversary Birthday Party is presented by the Downtown Austin Alliance, Our Title Sponsor, with special support from The Driskill Hotel.
The historic Driskill Hotel is located at 604 Brazos Street. Party-goers are encouraged to walk, bike, or rideshare since downtown parking is very limited. The Driskill offers valet parking for $30 for up to 3 hours, otherwise there are neighboring self parking garages at varying rates by the hour.
