Mayor Lee Leffingwell Declares Preservation Austin Week

On January 22, Mayor Lee Leffingwell declared January 21 – 25, 2013 as Preservation Austin Week.   A Proclamation was read at the landmark building now housing Annie's Cafe & Bar on Congress, who generously hosted this event.

Be it known that
For 60 years, the Heritage Society of Austin has been an essential participant in preserving the fabric of our community; and,
Its new name, Preservation Austin, clearly conveys the organization’s mission to preserve and protect historical edifices and places throughout Austin; and,
More than 300 historic properties – including the Driskill Hotel, Paramount Theatre, Governor’s Mansion, Laguna Gloria plus the Capitol View Corridors – have been saved as a result of Preservation Austin’s efforts; and,
We’re pleased to acknowledge the group’s new name and to wish them continued success in “Saving the Good Stuff”– preserving landmarks and historic buildings and places that help make our City a unique and special place to live;

Now, Therefore,
I, Lee Leffingwell, Mayor of the City of Austin, Texas,
do hereby proclaim
January 21 – 25, 2013
Preservation Austin Week
