PA Launches Historic Austin Tours 2 iPhone App, Download for a Chance To Win a Stay at the Driskill

Preservation Austin is pleased to announce the second historic tour app available for iPhone –Historic Austin Tours 2. Like the original Historic Austin Tours App, Historic Austin Tours 2 is designed for users to discover Central Austin’s cultural landmarks in walking or driving tours that feature photos, historical narratives and audio commentary.

Historic Austin Tours 2 App for iPhone  currently offers two tours:  The Tejano Trail and Iconic Music Venues.  The Iconic Music Venues tour is available for an in-app purchase of $2.99.  This tour highlights the music venues that shaped Austin as the “Live Music Capital of the World.” It features the legendary nightclubs, bars and dance halls of Austin, from the Victory Grill on the east side to the Broken Spoke on the south, with other favorites and a few surprises in-between. The Tejano Trail tour is free when the App is downloaded.  The Tejano Trail tour spotlights East Austin landmarks that have played vital roles in the City’s history, such as churches, homes, schools and businesses, from President Johnson’s experimental Oak Grove to Zavala Elementary School.

The Driskill Hotel has partnered with Preservation Austin to support the Iconic Music Venues Tour.  Download Historic Austin Tours 2 and purchase the $2.99 Iconic Music Venues tour for a chance to win a two-night stay at the historic Driskill Hotel.  Contest dates and details will be revealed twice a month beginning in mid-February through April 2014, on Preservation Austin’s Facebook page.
